Join our Wind Models software development team as a Senior Data Scientist to advance the DNV WindFarmer product. We are looking for a domain expert who can bridge the gap between complex wind energy modelling and scalable software development. Primary Tasks:

  • Works as part of a cross-functional product team to deliver improvements to products focused on wind energy modelling.
  • Supports customers to enable their product usage and identify product opportunities.
  • Develops and validates model accuracy to ensure high-quality product offerings.
  • Implements both physics-based and data-driven models programmatically, leveraging scientific computing to build robust and scalable solutions.
  • Supports the development of more junior and less experienced team members.
  • Communicates results and outcomes to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Publishes and presents technical content via white papers, blog posts, and/or at conferences.
  • Participates in the planning of the product and data science teams’ goals.

  • Skills/Experience:
    • Bachelor’s degree minimum.
    • Experience in the wind energy domain, including areas such as wind farm project development, wind resource assessment, wake modelling, CFD, and layout design.
    • Background in scientific model R&D, as well as model deployment and validation, is highly valued.
    • Experience in scientific computing, with strong and confident programming skills. Collaborative experience in developing software is preferred.
    • Demonstrated experience in a technical role directly supporting customers.
    • Good familiarity with software development tools and Agile best practices.
    • Experience working with strongly typed languages (C#, .NET), object-oriented programming, compute parallelization, cloud-compute, Kubernetes/microservices, GitOps also highly valued.
