About the Role

Shape Safety Where It Matters Most – Join DNV’s HAZLOC (Ex) Team. Are you passionate about safeguarding complex industrial environments where explosive atmospheres are a daily reality? At DNV Product Assurance, we certify the equipment that keeps critical industries operating safely—across hydrogen production, oil & gas, renewables, mining, process industries and environments with explosive dust. Our work gives customers the confidence and “license to operate” in some of the world’s most demanding environments. With a strong and growing team primarily based in Oslo, and access to our accredited test facility, we’re seeking a HAZLOC (Ex) Engineer to join our growing team of specialists.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead type and design examinations of equipment used in explosive (Ex) environments
  • Carry out in-depth technical assessments and documentation reviews to ensure compliance
  • Perform and support testing activities in our state‑of‑the‑art accredited test facility
  • Travel to customer sites to witness tests and conduct audits at manufacturing facilities
  • Act as a trusted technical partner, supporting both customers and colleagues across DNV
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by helping build smarter, more efficient processes
  • Deliver high‑quality outcomes with a strong focus on customer experience and timely execution

Locations

For candidates from Europe: We are open to other locations within Germany, Italy or United Kingdom. For candidates outside of Europe: We are open to candidates willing to relocate to Oslo.

Your Background May Include

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related field
  • Equivalent hands‑on experience in HAZLOC / Ex certification is also highly valued
  • Experience with Ex product certification, designing, testing, or verification in an industrial setting
  • Familiarity with auditing standards such as ISO 9001 and/or ISO 80079-34 (a plus)
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects effectively
  • Clear and confident communication skills in English, both written and spoken
