Our Department
Assurance Services brings together over 170 specialists delivering technical assurance, verification and advisory services across the energy sector. This role sits within Asset Assurance, supporting the safe operation of assets throughout their lifecycle, from installation through to decommissioning.
This Opportunity
Based at our modern offices in Dyce, you'll join a highly respected team of structural and mechanical engineers responsible for the certification of offshore containers and portable offshore units used throughout the global energy industry.

We also played a leading role in the development of ISO 10855, helping shape international best practice.

As an Approval Engineer, you will:
- Assess offshore containers, lifting equipment and portable offshore units against DNV and international standards
- Work alongside recognised industry experts who help develop and maintain global best practice
- Apply engineering analysis tools, including finite element modelling, to solve complex technical challenges

Qualifications
We expect you to share our passion for your personal and professional development. As well as being able to demonstrate the right attitudes, requirements for this position include:
- HND or Minimum 2:2 degree in a relevant Engineering discipline, preferably Mechanical or Structural Engineering. Aeronautical or Civil Engineering may be considered
- Knowledge of fundamental principles in engineering topics including but not limited to loads and load combinations, mechanics, materials, joining techniques and standard detailing, fabrication methods and structural analysis (including the use of Finite Element Method)
- Excellent numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills. Experience in Excel and/or mathematical modelling will be beneficial, although not essential
- An inquisitive outlook with sound logical reasoning and an ability to produce clear and correct technical reports based on your own work
- Familiar with commercial and project management principles, with an interest in developing skills in project planning, budgeting and customer engagement
- Self-motivated and organised, with the ability to prioritise competing demands, manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously and deliver against project objectives and deadlines
- Able to maintain high standards of safety, quality and performance when working under pressure and to challenging timescales
- Excellent interpersonal and team working skills, confident in building professional relationships and ability to demonstrate excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills.
