Technical Advisory is a newly established department within Energy Systems, UK & Ireland, creating a powerhouse of technical expertise which combines existing strengths with the ambition of growing capabilities and raising the bar on service quality for our customers across the whole Energy Systems space. The department combines our services across Projects, Engineering, and Integrity with a clear ambition to strengthen delivery and focus our technical excellence to increase customer impact.
The Project Advisory Section plays a key role in supporting customers across the full project lifecycle, delivering CAPEX services such as Owners Engineering, as well as Operational Services looking at life management, repowering options, decommissioning studies and inspections. The ambition of the Project Advisory Section is to create a dynamic environment to expand and evolve these services across assets and technologies in line with market trends and emerging opportunities. This will require a strong commercial mindset and alignment across teams and close collaboration with other departments to enhance the service offering and increase market share by building on broader regional capabilities.
The teams within Projects Advisory will focus on different phases of the project lifecycle; however, there is a strong expectation that teams will be working together and share resources within and beyond the section as needed to ensure the section and department performance. The teams will be multi-technology comprising people coming from different legacy Renewables teams and they are expected to deliver across technologies. Our primary market is the UK & Ireland, with key hubs in Bristol, London, Glasgow and Dublin. However, we also collaborate with colleagues across the globe, sharing our knowledge and expertise, to help deliver critical projects for our customers around the world.
Why work with us? Our projects are varied and challenging. Our teams are made up of world-leading subject matter experts and highly skilled generalists, who bring their specific knowledge, passion and skills together to find solutions for our customer’s most complex projects. We are actively growing and increasing the range of challenges we solve for our customers and our planet. Across DNV, we have a wealth of experience in all energy vectors and with almost 6000 people working to deliver the energy transition, our expertise covers the full breadth and depth of the energy value chain.
What you would be doing: Our Project Advisory Engineers work on a range of projects and roles, spanning primarily solar PV, BESS and wind but other technologies as well. You’ll be responsible for leading our engagement with customers, getting to the heart of their challenges and proposing appropriate solutions. It doesn’t end there; once the solution has been defined and agreed with the customer, you’ll collaborate with our expert teams to deliver it. You could be performing a technical study, evaluating the risks of a new project or attending site to represent our client during construction and commissioning. As we said, our roles are exciting and varied!
As a Senior / Principal Solar Engineer, you will also be expected to take on management of larger projects and bids as part of your work. You’ll often find yourself project managing your own projects while providing your technical expertise as a team member for other projects spanning across the project lifecycle or multi-technology or across regional areas. The role also involves providing technical mentoring and coaching to other team members.
There are travel opportunities too for engaging with customers and visiting project sites as part of your role. These are mostly around the UK & Ireland but as a global organisation, occasionally may take you further afield.
