You’ll be part of our highly respected Performance Forecasting team who undertake Reliability, Availability and Maintainability (RAM) studies, to forecast the performance of our customers’ energy and process facilities.
Our Performance Forecasting services provide expert guidance and strategic solutions that enable businesses to predict the future performance of their assets and make informed decisions about commercial agreements, design, operations and maintenance. These services are provided to our customers right across the energy and process sectors - from traditional industries such as Oil & Gas and Petrochemical, to more sustainable systems, in support of the Energy Transition, such as Wind, Solar, Hydrogen, Carbon Capture and Storage, Ammonia, Waste to Energy.
Our Opportunity:
As a highly analytical student, studying towards a degree in subjects such as, Chemical, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, our summer placement provides a fantastic opportunity to gain practical work experience to complement your university studies. Based from either our Loughborough or central London offices, you’ll utilise your analytical and problem-solving skills to help our customers across the Energy industry, identify and implement innovative solutions to impact the transition to a more decarbonised and sustainable future.
Our summer placement is usually 10-12 weeks in duration, commencing from June onwards. During your placement you’ll be stretched, but always supported, surrounded by people who want you to thrive, develop and embrace new challenges. And if you enjoy your time with us, you could be offered the opportunity to join our Graduate Programme at the end of your studies or to return the following year for another placement.
As an Energy Systems RAM Consultant with DNV, you will be given opportunity to:
- Help Gather and Organise Data
- Collect information about equipment failures, repairs, and operating hours
- Clean up spreadsheets, check for missing data, and prepare it for analysis
- Calculate basic reliability metrics like average time between failures
- Use Industry Leading DNV Software Tools and Methods
- Get training in RAM software used by the team
- Learn how engineers think about reliability, risk, and maintenance
- Build confidence working with real engineering data
- Build Reliability Models
- Assist consultants in creating simple reliability block diagrams or system models
- Use modelling software under supervision (you won’t be thrown in alone)
- Run simulations and record the results
- Test models with “what-if?” scenarios (e.g., “What if this equipment is spared?”)
- Create Charts, Summaries & Visuals
- Turn your model results into clear graphs and tables
- Draft short summaries for customer reports
- Help prepare slides for client presentations
- Collaborate with our Expert Consultants
- Join client meetings where your results will be presented
- Observe how consultants explain technical findings in simple terms
- Learn how RAM analysis influences real engineering decisions
