Our client, a city-based Bank are seeking someone to join their Operational Risk Management team. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role within the Bank's Second Line of Defence, supporting the ongoing enhancement of the operational risk and control environment across the Bank.

Working closely with the Head of Operational Risk Management, you will provide independent assessment and testing of key business controls, helping to identify control weaknesses, drive remediation activities, and strengthen the overall Risk Management Framework.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the development and execution of the Branch's operational risk control testing programme.
  • Conduct independent assessments of control design and operating effectiveness across business and support functions.
  • Perform targeted testing of key operational risk controls identified within departmental risk registers.
  • Identify control gaps, weaknesses, or exceptions, and provide practical recommendations for improvement.
  • Monitor and track remediation actions to ensure issues are addressed effectively and within agreed timelines.
  • Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of control testing methodologies, tools, and templates.
  • Provide guidance and support to stakeholders on control testing approaches and best practices.
  • Prepare clear and insightful risk and control reports for senior management, governance committees, and Head Office.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the First and Second Lines of Defence to promote a strong risk culture.
About You
  • You will be a proactive and analytical risk professional with experience in operational risk, internal controls, or audit within the financial services sector.
  • Strong understanding of Operational Risk Management and internal control frameworks.
  • Experience in control assessment, testing, and validation methodologies.
  • Background gained within banking, financial services, or a regulated environment.
  • Ability to analyse data and identify emerging operational risk trends and issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Professional qualification in Risk Management, Internal Audit, or a related discipline.
  • Experience working across both front office and support/control functions.
  • Familiarity with governance and risk reporting processes within a banking environment.
