The role
A growing financial-markets business is looking for a SWIFT Settlement Connectivity Engineer to help build connectivity across multiple settlement venues.
The successful contractor will work on the technical connections between internal systems, SWIFT and external settlement or post-trade platforms.
This is not a role focused solely on monitoring an existing SWIFT environment.
The contractor must be able to build and configure connectivity, develop the necessary integrations and support testing through to production.
Responsibilities
- Build SWIFT connectivity for multi-venue settlement.
- Connect internal trading, middle-office or settlement systems with external venues and service providers.
- Configure message flows, routing and integration points.
- Develop the interfaces or scripts required to send and receive settlement messages.
- Map internal transaction and settlement data into the required message formats.
- Work with operations and technology stakeholders to understand settlement requirements.
- Support connectivity to custodians, agents, venues and post-trade providers.
- Perform end-to-end connectivity and settlement testing.
- Investigate failed messages, routing issues, rejected transactions and data-format problems.
- Build appropriate logging, monitoring and exception-handling processes.
- Support production implementation and post-go-live stabilisation.
- Document message flows, interfaces and support procedures.
- Previous experience building SWIFT connectivity within financial services.
- Understanding of securities settlement or post-trade processing.
- Experience creating message flows and integrations between internal and external systems.
- Knowledge of SWIFT settlement messages and message formats.
- Experience using APIs, messaging queues, secure file transfer or comparable integration technologies.
- Development or scripting experience using Python, Java, C#, Bash, Power Shell or a comparable technology.
- SQL and data-analysis experience.
- Strong testing and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently and deliver within a project environment.
- Pirum connectivity or implementation experience.
- Securities finance or securities lending.
- Connectivity to custodians, settlement agents or post-trade providers.
- SWIFT Alliance Access, Alliance Gateway or SWIFTNet Link.
- ISO 20022 or MX messaging.
- IBM MQ, SFTP or comparable messaging technologies.
- Experience within a market maker, broker, investment bank or trading firm.
- Candidate profile
The successful contractor will combine practical SWIFT knowledge with hands-on integration and development skills.
You do not need to be a senior SWIFT architect or transformation lead.
You must, however, have previously built connectivity and be able to work through the technical and settlement issues involved in connecting multiple venues.
