We are recruiting an experienced HRBP / ERP to join a busy and evolving People & Culture team within a complex, multi-service organisation. This is a hands-on, influential role with responsibility for leading a varied and high-volume employee relations caseload. You will act as a trusted adviser to managers and senior stakeholders, providing practical, commercially aware and legally compliant guidance across the full range of ER matters. The initial appointment will be on a fixed-term contract, with a clear opportunity for the role to become permanent.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Managing complex ER cases from initial advice through to resolution, including conduct, grievance, capability, performance and long-term absence
- Coaching managers to handle employee relations matters confidently, consistently and fairly
- Supporting organisational change programmes, including restructures, redundancies and TUPE transfers
- Working constructively with trade unions, employees and external partners
- Identifying emerging ER risks and recommending appropriate interventions
- Using case data and workforce trends to improve decision-making and reduce organisational risk
- Reviewing and improving HR policies, procedures, systems and manager guidance
- Managing relationships with external providers, including employment lawyers, occupational health specialists and mediators
- Delivering ER-related training and development to strengthen management capability
- Maintaining accurate, compliant and confidential employee relations records
About you
You will be an established HR or Employee Relations professional with significant experience managing complex and high-volume casework within a fast-paced organisation. You should be able to demonstrate:
- Strong knowledge of UK employment law and employee relations best practice
- Experience working in a unionised environment
- Proven experience of restructures, redundancies, consultation and TUPE
- Confidence advising and influencing managers at all levels
- The ability to manage sensitive, contentious and high-risk cases independently
- Strong analytical skills and experience using ER data to identify trends and risks
- Excellent written communication, case documentation and report-writing skills
- A practical, balanced and people-focused approach to resolving workplace issues
- CIPD Level 5 qualification, CIPD membership or equivalent professional experience
