Job Description
Position at DNEG
The rigging supervisor is the creative and technical leader within the rigging department on a given show. They work closely with the VFX Supervisor, CG Supervisor, and Animation Director to bring the client's vision to life. With a deep understanding of all aspects of rigging work and a passion for creating lifelike characters, the Rigging Supervisor leads the team of artists. They collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless development of the rigging asset and its smooth integration into the production pipeline. This role demands a comprehensive understanding of the cutting-edge technologies used in CG feature animation.
Job Requirements:
- High proficiency in all technical areas of rigging pipeline technology: modular rigging, deterministic and simulation deformation techniques, python scripting, publishing, and production tracking systems (Shotgrid).
- Experience in muscle, skin, cloth, hair, fur, and feather deformation and simulation.
- Excellent knowledge of body and facial anatomy, including FACS.
- Exceptional eye for the aesthetics of anatomy under motion, timing, deformation and response, and attention to detail.
- Proven experience producing Creature work with an eye for detail and a good sense of timing.
- Familiarity with pipeline issues and problem-solving.
- Experience in balancing quality with time constraints.
- Excellent artistic and technical skills.
- Scripting or programming skills (Python, C++).
- Good leadership and communication skills, including the ability to delegate effectively.
