Texture Artists at Dneg create photo realistic textures and other related maps or images for mapping on to 3D objects. You will be creating images to a high level of realism as part of the model and shading set up, from scratch, from reference source photography, whilst reference paintings, reference books, and architecture. You will work closely with the other members of the build department, and become fluent in our in house software packages.
Must Have
- 3+ years of high-end feature film VFX experience
- Full working knowledge of Photoshop and Mari
- Strong understanding of UVs
- Strong visual skills, and a good eye for detail, scale, composition, colour and form
- Ability to process / grade the data coming from onset / shoot department
- Showreel demonstrating experience of hard surface, organic, and creature assets in full feature films
- A good knowledge of how the texture painting work fits into the bigger picture, particularly in relation to modelling, shading, and look development
- Good understanding of different types of texturing (zBrush, hard surface assets, organic assets, procedural build) and when to use them.
- Good understanding of rendering requirements and texture efficiencies
- Good understanding of application of onset reference (real life props/costume and reference photography).
- Experience meeting deadlines while retaining a high quality of work
- Experience with windows or Linux operating systems
- Experience with rendering software such as Renderman, Arnold, or Karma

- Mari node graph focused knowledge
- Knowledge of Substance Painter
- Knowledge of Substance designer
- Experience working with Houdini Solaris
- Understanding of different types of modelling and lookDev requirements
- Supporting artwork such as a portfolio
- Understanding of shading, LookDev experience and knowledge of colour pipeline
- Previous look development experience
- Ability to shoot texture references
