The Warehouse Operations & Stock Control Lead is responsible for managing the day‑to‑day performance of a third‑party warehouse (3PL) network across the UK and Europe. The role ensures high levels of stock accuracy through timely, precise transaction processing, proactive issue identification, and frequent reconciliation activities. Managing one Coordinator, the Lead will drive high operational standards, maintain strong partner relationships, and support continuous improvement across all warehouse and inventory processes. The role will also collaborate closely with the wider Stock Control & Logistics team, as well as Supply Planning and Customer Service, to ensure exceptional end‑to‑end supply chain execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Line‑manage, coach, and develop a Coordinator, ensuring clarity of responsibilities, KPIs, and performance expectations.
- Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and high operational standards.
- Oversee day‑to‑day warehouse operations across the UK and Europe, ensuring service delivery meets agreed SLAs.
- Monitor 3PL performance, elevate issues when required, and lead resolution of operational challenges.
- Ensure adherence to warehouse processes including picking, packing, dispatch, receiving, put‑away, and inventory accuracy.
- Maintain high levels of stock accuracy through timely and accurate processing of receipts, returns, adjustments, and transfers.
- Lead and conduct stock reconciliations, cycle counts, and investigations into discrepancies.
- Identify and resolve inventory issues early, ensuring clear communication with relevant stakeholders.
- Maintain robust documentation and audit trails for all stock movements and corrections.
- Manage the disposal, rework, donation, or liquidation of excess and obsolete inventory, maximising financial return where possible.
- Ensure stock disposal processes meet internal governance and compliance requirements.
- Identify opportunities to reduce costs, improve efficiency, and streamline processes across warehousing and inventory operations.
- Anticipate operational risks or capacity constraints and communicate these proactively.
- Support or lead improvement projects relating to stock control, warehouse performance, or supply chain integration.
- Work closely with Stock Control & Logistics, Supply Planning, Customer Service, and other teams to support end‑to‑end supply chain effectiveness.
- Provide accurate stock information and warehouse insights to support planning activities.
- Act as the primary operational contact for warehouse‑related queries and escalations.
- Monitor and report key performance indicators including stock accuracy, transaction timeliness, location integrity, warehouse performance, and discrepancy resolution.
- Ensure compliance with audit, quality, and regulatory requirements across warehouse operations.
- Maintain up‑to‑date documentation, SOPs, and process maps relevant to warehousing and stock control.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Strong experience in warehouse operations, stock control, or 3PL management.
- Excellent understanding of inventory processes, reconciliation methods, and root‑cause analysis.
- High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to identify and implement process improvements.
- Confident communicator with strong stakeholder management ability.
Desirable Qualifications
- Proficient in ERP/WMS systems and stock management tools.
- Experience leading or supervising small teams.
- Background working with multi‑country warehouse networks.
- Exposure to continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen).
- Experience managing write‑offs, obsolescence, or liquidation activity.
- Experience in consumer goods, manufacturing, retail, or similarly supply‑chain‑intensive environments.
