Manager: drive safety, compliance and operational excellence across transport operations.
Responsible for ensuring regulatory, legal and company requirements are understood and consistently applied, with a focus on performance improvement and a culture of compliance.
Responsibilities
- Oversee fleet compliance and utilisation, ensuring all vehicles are properly maintained and audit-ready in line with Operator Licence standards.
- Review daily transport plans with the Transport management team, training team and senior leadership to improve performance against KPIs and SLAs; implement corrective actions where needed.
- Act as a key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, customers and airport authorities, ensuring compliance with relevant by‑laws and Department for Transport regulations.
- Lead health & safety activities, manage incident investigations, promote safe working practices and foster a proactive safety culture across teams.
- Coach, influence and support teams, drive high standards of performance and contribute to a collaborative management environment.
Qualifications & Experience
- Strong knowledge of transport legislation, compliance and Operator Licence requirements.
- Strong understanding of policies and procedures reflecting current legislation.
- Experience in fleet operations, ideally in a regulated or safety-critical environment, with knowledge of working time directive.
- Strong knowledge of maintenance standards and maintenance scheduling.
- Proven leadership and people management capability, with ability to coach and drive performance.
- Confident with senior stakeholders, regulators and operational teams.
- Ability to work under pressure, manage priorities and meet tight deadlines.
- Must be named on the Operator Licence and support maintaining Operator Licence compliance.
- Manager Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) – essential.
- Full UK HGV driving licence – essential.
