At dnata Catering UK, we are seeking an experienced shift supervisor to join our bond team at Glasgow Airport.

Purpose of the role

To be an active team member, ensuring that all work is completed according to the Daily Work Schedule, and that all information is communicated to the right people in a timely manner while meeting all compliance standards. To actively contribute to an effective and productive team focused on results and developing and sustaining strong customer relationships.

Working with

Internal: Bond Manager, other Shift Leaders, Bond and Flight employees, other units, Central Services Team at Glasgow, support functions, Operation/General Manager.
External: Airlines, HMC&E, CAA, auditors, contractors.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure work is completed according to the daily work schedule and that costs remain within agreed targets.
  • Maintain the work schedule by taking effective corrective action as required and highlighting ongoing issues to the appropriate Shift Leader/Team Manager.
  • Manage the roster effectively on a shift basis to ensure the schedule is maintained while remaining mindful of costs.
  • Ensure team members carry out duties in line with the work schedule.
  • Maintain standards of external and internal customer service.
  • Deal with all issues or customer requests in a timely manner, escalating matters that cannot be resolved to the relevant manager.
  • Adhere to all legislation, company policy and customer requirements, ensuring team members follow agreed procedures.
  • Carry out daily compliance checks and communicate any issues appropriately.
  • Carry out daily PI count and investigate resulting stock variances.
  • Ensure housekeeping duties are undertaken by team members.
  • Maintain safe working practices at all times, including the use of PPE, correct manual handling techniques and equipment.
  • Be familiar with all fire procedures within the unit, complying with fire training.
  • Adhere to and ensure security regulations and procedures are followed.
  • Ensure team members follow all agreed processes and procedures.
  • Ensure effective handover with colleagues so that issues are dealt with effectively.
  • Identify training needs and highlight them to the relevant Shift Leader and Team Manager.
  • Take initial appropriate action in the event of non-conformance, communicating issues to the team manager on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
  • Carry out daily and weekly team briefings to ensure issues raised are communicated to your manager.

Qualifications

  • People management skills, including dealing with performance issues, grievances, holidays, and absence management.
  • Basic computer skills – Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Ability to plan, organise and delegate.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong communication skills – must be able to communicate at all levels.
  • Understanding of health and safety regulations in relation to operations.
  • Understanding of Operational Management Systems.
  • Methodical and logical approach to work.
  • Current Airline Security knowledge.

Special about this role

The main focus of the Shift Leader role is to effectively organise resources to deliver the required activity each shift. Direction and guidance are easily accessible via the line manager. There is no direct budget management, but the role requires people management on a shift-by-shift basis. Decision making is based on prior experience working within standard parameters, with any concerns escalated to a manager. The role requires interaction with team members, colleagues from other process areas, auditors, suppliers and customers.
