We are looking to recruit a Transport Operations Manager with strong leadership skills for our client based in Manchester. This is a hands on role running the Transport and Warehouse Operations managing a team of around 40 people, you will have responsibility for the site, Compliance, KPI's and budgets Operational duties To provide a timely and accurate transit/logistics warehouse service Drive operational changes and manage staff through this. Setting of Margins and overhead budgets to report to the board. Woking toward and exceeding core KPI's Financial oversight on financial matters such as purchase matching, timely invoicing Ensuring that the jobs allocated to drivers are done so meeting the requirements of the Working Time Directive/driver hours regulation. Be one of the main points of contacts for staff during the shift. Look at the potential of load sharing with another vehicle at another unit to become more profitable as a business Push for a back load on jobs where appropriate to ensure maximum profitability. Ensure that all jobs are priced and closed off & invoiced when completed Resolving any escalations / issues, acting as an intermediary between the customer, customer service & operations. Looking to get any issues resolved as quickly as possible & finding solutions Ensure total compliance with all HR, Legal, Liability, Health and Safety, Security & Quality whilst overall ensuring complete customer satisfaction Team management Question and promote ideas for change bringing a fresh outlook to the team. To be able to motivate staff to deliver outstanding service levels. Day to day supervision of the drivers and the office team, always ready to step in and cover resourcing issues/ gaps as and when required Management of the team daily – including daily debriefs/coaching to achieve the highest standards. Ensuring that the team have planned and managed all vehicles operating from Manchester effectively and profitable Managing HR processes including absence-management, 121's, employee engagement and performance improvement About you and your experience We are looking for a great all-round team player, able to roll up your sleeve and get involved in all areas of Operational Management as required You will have experience and proven manager of people working in a Warehouse and Transport environment tat is Innovative and Continuous Improvement focused, you will be able to apply strategy to operations effectively driving change through the team Experience planning and managing budgets, and core KPI's Good time management and able to work under pressure Strong interpersonal and communication skills Numerate with attention to detail & excellent organisational skills Experience of managing HR processes including absence-management, 121's, employee engagement and performance improvement Flexible to work shift patterns that may include weekends, evenings and bank holidaysInterested please apply now for immediate consideration
