Key Responsibilities
- Lead the daily clinical screening of prescriptions, ensuring accuracy, patient safety and regulatory compliance.
- Line manage and mentor Clinical Pharmacists, providing coaching, support and structured development.
- Act as the escalation point for complex clinical queries within the Dispensary.
- Collaborate with operations teams to ensure the smooth running of named-patient services.
- Oversee controlled-drug records and governance procedures.
- Provide coverage for Accuracy Checking Technicians during busy or peak periods.
- Develop, review and maintain clinical Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Manage investigations into errors, complaints or workflow issues, ensuring timely resolution.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives across the Dispensary function.
- Ensure full compliance with regulatory, quality and Health & Safety standards.
Leadership Responsibilities
- Foster a positive, collaborative team culture with high professional and clinical standards.
- Manage performance, appraisals and personal development plans for direct reports.
- Apply HR policies consistently, including absence management and capability procedures.
- Monitor KPIs and SLAs, ensuring service excellence and compliance.
About You
- Registered Pharmacist with the GPhC (MPharm or equivalent).
- Minimum two years’ experience leading a dispensary team or clinical pharmacy service.
- Strong knowledge of GPhC standards, clinical governance and pharmacy quality procedures.
- Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills.
- Confident in prioritising tasks and remaining calm under pressure.
- Skilled in procedural documentation and governance compliance.
- Proactive, improvement-oriented, committed to delivering safe, high-quality patient care.
