A fast-growing digital agency is looking for a hands-on Senior DevOps Engineer to own and shape its DevOps function. This is a high-impact role where you will assess and improve internal processes, development workflows, and the way client solutions are hosted and supported. You will work across development, operations, and delivery to design, build, and run secure, scalable, and robust environments for web applications and digital experiences.
The role:
- Take ownership of cloud infrastructure, servers, and supporting services, designing scalable and resilient architectures.
- Build, maintain, and optimise CI/CD pipelines, automating code testing, builds, and deployments.
- Implement and manage security best practices, patching, backups, and disaster recovery processes.
- Monitor performance, uptime, and capacity, troubleshooting issues and improving stability.
- Automate routine operational tasks, manage infrastructure as code, and version control environments.
- Collaborate closely with developers, technical leads, project managers, and 3rd party partners to ensure development and production environments are aligned.
- Support CMS and custom web platforms operationally, including deployment, hosting, domain, DNS, and SSL management.
- Manage relationships with hosting providers and other suppliers, optimising performance, reliability, and cost.
- Provide out-of-hours support on a rota basis for critical incidents.
What weβre looking for:
- Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer, Site Reliability Engineer, or similar, ideally in digital, product, or agency environments.
- Strong knowledge of Windows and Linux server environments, cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP, or private cloud), and CI/CD practices.
- Hands-on experience with scripting/automation (PowerShell, Bash, Python, or similar).
- Experience with monitoring, logging, and alerting tools, with the ability to act on operational data.
- Strong understanding of security, patch management, backups, and disaster recovery.
- Organised, detail-oriented, and methodical, with excellent documentation and communication skills.
- A proactive, problem-solving mindset, focused on improving system robustness, efficiency, and scalability.
Desirable:
- Experience managing CMS platforms such as Kentico or Kontent.ai.
- Exposure to headless CMS and modern frontend stacks (React, Next.js).
- Familiarity with infrastructure as code tools (Terraform, ARM/Bicep, CloudFormation) and configuration management (Ansible, Chef, Puppet).
- Experience supporting large-scale or high-availability web platforms with strict SLAs.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys a hands-on, end-to-end DevOps challenge, driving operational excellence while collaborating across teams to deliver high-quality digital solutions.
