A leading live events and production company is seeking an experienced Head of Lighting to take ownership of lighting design and delivery across a wide range of high-profile, creative projects. This is a senior, hands-on leadership role for someone who combines strong creative vision with deep technical expertise and is comfortable leading teams, shaping client solutions, and overseeing delivery from brief through to onsite execution.
As Head of Lighting, you’ll act as the senior authority on all lighting matters, guiding complex productions while mentoring and developing an established technical team. You’ll work closely with clients and internal stakeholders to elevate briefs, balance creative ambition with commercial responsibility, and ensure consistently high standards across multiple projects. This role would suit a lighting professional with significant live events experience who enjoys client-facing work, leading people, and taking responsibility for both creative outcomes and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:- Act as the senior lighting lead across multiple live event and experiential projects
- Interpret client briefs and enhance them with creative and technical lighting solutions
- Lead, motivate, and develop lighting teams across design, prep, and onsite delivery
- Maintain strong client relationships through clear, confident communication
- Produce accurate lighting quotations, proposals, and equipment specifications
- Oversee onsite lighting delivery, collaborating closely with other technical departments
- Ensure projects are delivered to a high creative standard while remaining commercially sound
- Mentor team members and provide constructive feedback to support skill development
- Adapt quickly to changing project requirements while keeping teams aligned
- Minimum 6 years’ experience delivering creative lighting design and systems in a client-facing live events environment
- Strong leadership experience, with the ability to inspire and develop technical teams
- Excellent understanding of lighting design, systems, and technical documentation
- Confident communicator with a collaborative, solutions-focused approach
- Commercial awareness and experience producing accurate costings and proposals
- Comfortable working flexibly, including evenings and weekends when required
- Salary: £55,000 to £60,000 depending on experience
- Working hours: Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm, with flexibility for live events
- Holiday: 30 days including bank holidays
