Role Summary
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Financial Operations Accountant to lead a team responsible for core financial operations, including merchant liability calculations, collections management, and day-to-day financial queries across the business. This role plays a critical part in maintaining financial control, ensuring timely cash collection, and driving operational excellence across the finance function. This role is working in a hybrid office environment with 3 days a week in a DNA office.

Key Responsibilities:
Merchant Liability and Financial Calculations
- Work with Treasury to enhance the end-to-end process of merchant liability calculations, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Collaborate with Commercial and Risk teams to enhance processes and reporting
- Ensure that all daily merchant funding is completed, and any rejected payments are processed within SLA
- Preparing daily reconciliation of all processed transactions and clearing any rejects from internal or external platforms.
- Monitor key metrics and trends, flag anomalies, and work with relevant departments to resolve discrepancies
- Maintain robust reconciliations and documentation to support calculations
Operational Finance Support
Act as the go-to point of contact for operational finance queries across the business
- Investigate and resolve escalated transactional or reconciliation issues
- Ensure that processes comply with internal controls and audit requirements
- Identify opportunities to improve systems and processes for greater efficiency and accuracy
Collections
Work with the CFO and wider business to enhance processes to ensure billing is accurate
- Oversee the end-to-end collection’s function, including proactive management of outstanding balances
- Monitor and report on aged debt, working with the team to drive timely resolution
- Implement strategies to optimise cash collection and reduce debtor days
- Maintain strong communication with internal departments and external customers regarding overdue accounts
- Escalate high-risk accounts as appropriate and support legal/recovery actions if required
Ad Hoc
Work with the finance team during internal and external audits
- Strengthen internal control across the function
- Document all processes within the team
- Ensuring all staff are adequately trained within the team
About You:
Essential:
Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with at least 5 years’ experience is essential
- Background in payments, fintech, or e-commerce industries
- Strong experience in financial operations, including managing calculations and reconciliations
- Proven leadership skills, with experience managing finance or collections teams
- Strong understanding of collections processes and best practices
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
- Confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills and stakeholder engagement experience
- Advanced Excel skills and comfortable working with large data sets
Desirable:
Experience with ERP/accounting systems NetSuite and salesforce
- Familiarity with merchant services, settlement processes, or risk exposure management
- Financial transformation and project management
