The vacancy

Are you an inspiring and committed professional with a passion for shaping outstanding learner experiences? DN Colleges Group is seeking an Interim Team Leader for Hair & Beauty to provide short‑term leadership cover following the current postholder’s move into another role. This temporary appointment will play a key part in ensuring continuity across the department—supporting colleagues, maintaining high‑quality teaching standards, and contributing to an excellent learner journey. The contract end date will be discussed with the manager, and applications for part‑time hours are welcome.

About the Role

As Interim Team Leader, you will support the Interim Curriculum Leader and work closely with teaching staff, assessors, and wider stakeholders to ensure study programmes are delivered to a high standard. You will provide day‑to‑day leadership, monitor performance, and uphold the college’s commitment to inclusive and inspiring education.

Essential Criteria

  • Degree or relevant industry experience within Hair & Beauty.
  • Teaching qualification (PGCE/Cert Ed) or willingness to work towards one.
  • Strong ability to motivate, inspire, and support staff teams.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrable experience delivering high‑quality teaching within Further Education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support a team of teaching staff to deliver an outstanding learner experience.
  • Monitor attendance, progress data, and performance, ensuring appropriate interventions where required.
  • Contribute to curriculum planning, quality assurance, and departmental improvement activity.
  • Attend and participate in performance reviews, safeguarding meetings, and curriculum quality forums.
  • Engage with marketing activities and support promotional events within the department.
  • Ensure adherence to college policies, procedures, external quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support staff development through performance appraisals and sharing good practice.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to enhance the curriculum offer and learner opportunities.
