Senior Electrical Design Engineer – Stockton-on-Tees My client is an electrical design consultancy specialising in: * Power Generation. * Transmission & Distribution. * Onshore and Offshore Renewables. * Manufacturing. * Petrochemical. * Oil & Gas. They require an electrical design engineer to join the business on a contract or permanent basis in Stockton-on-Tees. The role is to join an existing team to develop detailed electrical system designs for electrical projects, including schematics, single line drawings, layout drawings, general arrangement drawings, cable block diagrams, material take-offs and other documentation required for both LV and HV electrical equipment. Role: * Designing the layout for electrical substations, considering safety, efficiency and reliability. * Specify equipment placement, bus configurations and grounding systems. * Design cable and cable containment layouts for power distribution. * Specify cable types, sizes, and installation methods. * Specify and select appropriate electrical equipment such as transformers, circuit breakers and switchgear. * Provide cost estimation and budgeting for electrical components and systems. * Optimise designs for cost-effectiveness without compromising reliability. * Prepare detailed design documentation, including drawings, specifications, and schedules. Coordinate design efforts to integrate electrical systems with overall project requirements. * Identify potential risks associated with electrical designs and propose mitigation strategies. * Support during the construction and commissioning phases of projects by addressing any design related issues. * Ensure all designs comply with relevant electrical codes, standards, and regulations. * Keep up to date with emerging technologies in power distribution. Requirements: * A minimum of HNC in Electrical Engineering. * Expertise in AutoCAD. * Proven experience in designing electrical systems. * Solid understanding of electrical systems, principles and design, including switchgear, transformers and protection relays. * Practical experience in designing cable layouts for power distribution. * Ability to identify and solve complex technical problems in electrical designs. * Knowledge of safety practices and a commitment to designing systems with safety as a top priority. * Experience in substation design including layout, equipment selection and substation earthing (desirable) * Hands-on experience with protection and control systems, relay coordination, and control panel design (desirable) DMW recruitment provides staffing solutions across the UK and internationally.
