Our award-winning client is in urgent need of a professional to source a junior engineer to join their expanding team. The Junior Systems Engineer is responsible for deployment, configuration and maintenance of the client's systems. The role has a wider scope to assist with all server-related tasks company-wide, and work with the lead system administrator and the software team on new solution designs. The role generally requires someone with a senior level technical implementation background in infrastructure with some experience of delivering technical solutions.

Position Objective: The Systems Engineer is responsible for deployment, configuration and maintenance of systems. The role has a wider scope to assist with all server-related tasks company-wide, and work with the lead system administrator and the software team on new solution designs. The role generally requires someone with a technical implementation background in infrastructure with real-world experience of delivering technical solutions.

Key Responsibilities and Skills:

  • Excellent Linux skills over multiple distributions
  • Excellent scripting skills in BASH or similar
  • Some programming knowledge, however, would not expect this to be their strongest point
  • AWS experience, ideally with a developer or similar qualification
  • Other cloud experience to some degree (Google or Azure)
  • Some networking experience, but does not matter if limited to just cloud (i.e. not switches etc.)
  • Some form of automation experience such as Ansible or GitLab runners, don't really mind which but they need to be very strong at something in this space
  • Does not need management skills
  • Would expect minimum 4 years' experience, however 6+ would be better

Profile: The role requires someone who is committed to quality, has a high attention to detail, works well with others and has a can-do attitude. The person will be dealing with problems at their own pace, as such it will need good time-management skills.
