To deliver high-quality professional driver and logistics training in line with current UK legislation and regulatory requirements, including DVSA standards. The role is suited to an instructor who is committed to continuous professional development and keen to expand their skills across a range of logistics and compliance-based qualifications. There is clear opportunity to develop into the delivery of additional sector qualifications, subject to training, approval, and operational need.

Responsibilities

  • Training Delivery
    • Deliver approved periodic Driver CPC training in line with DVSA approval requirements, course specifications, and stated learning outcomes.
    • Deliver practical HGV and/or PCV driver training in accordance with DVSA standards and relevant national occupational standards.
    • Deliver classroom-based logistics and compliance training, including ADR and related qualifications, where authorised, with opportunities to broaden delivery scope as qualifications are achieved.
  • Learner Management and Support
    • Ensure learners are registered, identified, and monitored in accordance with awarding body and organisational requirements.
    • Support and motivate learners throughout their training journey, promoting engagement, participation, and achievement.
    • Apply consistent and inclusive approaches to learner support, including reasonable adjustments and safeguarding, where applicable.
  • Assessment and Quality Assurance
    • Conduct assessments in line with awarding body and regulatory guidance, ensuring fair, valid, and reliable outcomes.
    • Provide clear, constructive, and timely feedback to support learner development and achievement.
    • Actively contribute to internal quality assurance processes, including standardisation activities, observations of practice, and continuous improvement.
  • Compliance and Regulatory Requirements
    • Ensure all training delivery complies with current legislation, guidance, and approved programme requirements.
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislative and regulatory changes and proactively embed updates into training delivery.
    • Deliver training strictly in line with approved content, recognising the importance of compliance and audit integrity.
  • Customer Service and Professional Conduct
    • Maintain a professional, positive, and learner-focused approach when working with learners, employers, auditors, and stakeholders.
    • Represent the organisation positively during audits, monitoring visits, and external quality reviews.
  • Administration and Record Keeping
    • Accurately complete and maintain all required training and assessment records, including attendance, identity checks, and learner evidence, in line with awarding body requirements.
    • Ensure records are submitted promptly to support audit trails, compliance monitoring, and quality assurance.
    • Support internal and external audits as required.
  • Health, Safety, and Resources
    • Comply fully with organisational health and safety policies and procedures.
    • Ensure training vehicles, equipment, and learning environments are safe, roadworthy, and fit for purpose.
    • Actively promote safe working practices and risk awareness throughout training delivery.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Essential
    • Full HGV licence for the category being instructed, held for a minimum of three years.
    • Demonstrable knowledge of UK professional driver legislation and compliance requirements.
    • Effective communication and instructional skills suitable for adult learners.
    • A professional, compliant, and learner-centred approach with a commitment to development.
  • Desirable
    • Experience delivering approved Driver CPC training.
    • Experience delivering HGV and/or PCV driver training in line with DVSA standards.
    • Experience or a clear willingness to train towards delivering Transport Manager CPC and other logistics-related qualifications.
    • Experience in the movement of dangerous goods (ADR).

Continuing Professional Development

  • Actively engage in ongoing CPD to enhance instructional skills, subject knowledge, and regulatory awareness.
  • Complete mandatory updates required by awarding bodies and the organisation.
  • Maintain clear CPD records to support audit, quality assurance, and professional progression.
