Overview
The Operations Improvement Specialist is responsible for supporting operational excellence initiatives by leading projects, analyzing manufacturing data and assisting with implementation of process improvements. This role works closely with cross‑functional departments to drive measurable improvements in safety, quality, throughput, inventory accuracy and overall operational performance.
Responsibilities
- Project Management
- Lead and support operational improvement projects across multiple manufacturing facilities.
- Develop project plans, timelines, milestones, and implementation strategies.
- Coordinate cross‑functional teams to ensure project objectives are achieved.
- Facilitate project meetings, track action items, and provide status updates to leadership.
- Ensure projects are completed on time and deliver measurable business results.
- Data Analytics & Reporting
- Analyze manufacturing, inventory, labor, quality, and logistics data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
- Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and KPI tracking tools.
- Perform root cause analysis and recommend corrective actions.
- Validate data accuracy and work with stakeholders to improve reporting processes.
- Operational Improvement
- Support initiatives related to manufacturing productivity, inventory control, logistics, warehouse operations, maintenance, and process standardization.
- Assist with the implementation and optimization of ERP, WMS, MES, EAM, and reporting tools.
- Conduct process observations and collaborate with operations teams to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Support continuous improvement efforts through structured problem solving and data‑driven decision making.
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Demonstrated project management experience.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications with intermediate or above Excel capabilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Self‑motivated with a strong work ethic and sense of ownership.
- Ability to travel periodically between DMI facilities.
Preferred
- Manufacturing operations experience.
- Experience with ERP, WMS, MES, EAM, or similar business systems.
- Experience with Power BI or other business intelligence tools.
- Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, or Six Sigma experience.
