An established and growing £100m+ business is looking to appoint an experienced Transport Manager / Planning Manager to take ownership of a high-volume, fast-paced distribution operation. This is a business-critical role with full responsibility for ensuring efficient, cost-effective, and high-quality delivery performance across multiple sites. With customer service at the heart of the business, this position offers real visibility and the opportunity to make a tangible impact.
The Role
- Manage daily outbound volumes of 100–400 tonnes
- Oversee a fleet of 30 vehicles, plus external hauliers
- Coordinate and optimise:
- Route planning and scheduling
- Subcontractor usage
- Pallet network and parcel distribution (e.g. DPD)
- Ensure compliance with all CPC and transport regulations
- Monitor and improve delivery performance, cost control, and service levels
- Support operations across a secondary site in the West Midlands
- Identify and implement improvements across transport and logistics processes
About You
- Holds a valid CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence)
- Proven experience in a Transport Manager / Senior Planner / Fleet Manager role
- Strong background managing mixed fleet operations (own vehicles + subcontractors)
- Comfortable working in a hands-on, fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated ability to improve efficiency, reduce costs, or enhance service levels
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and team leadership ability
