We're seeking an experienced professional to join dmg media's Commercial Legal Team in an operational and corporate governance role. This is a unique, highâimpact role that goes beyond traditional legal support. While you will be embedded within the Legal team, your remit extends across the business to drive compliance and governance functions. You'll be the "bridge" between legal, risk and the wider business, ensuring our corporate machinery runs with precision. This role provides an opportunity to shape the way legal and governance services are delivered in one of the UK's most dynamic media and publishing environments.
Main Responsibilities
- Corporate Governance and Compliance
- Support the Commercial Legal Team and other dmg media departments with corporate governance requirements.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory filings, corporate records, and other regulatory obligations.
- Prepare materials for and attend committee and compliance meetings, including committee documentation, agendas and project plans.
- Support the legal teamâs workflow, including triaging and responding to incoming requests.
- Implement and improve processes to enhance the teamâs efficiency and responsiveness.
- Act as the first point of contact for internal stakeholders on routine legal and governance queries.
- Coordinate with external advisers and manage relationships with other service providers.
- Support the development and implementation of compliance policies and procedures.
- Contribute to risk identification, assessment, and mitigation strategies.
- Maintain compliance registers and ensure timely completion of compliance activities.
- Build strong relationships across the business to understand operational needs.
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes and reduce legal risk.
Person Specification
Essential Experience & Skills
- 10-15 yearsâ experience in a legal or corporate environment, ideally including governance, or legal operations exposure.
- Strong understanding of UK commercial law, governance principles, and regulatory compliance.
- Experience working in-house, particularly in media, publishing, or regulated industries (desirable).
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and work autonomously.
- Excellent organisational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to engage effectively at all levels.
Qualifications
- Experienced paralegal or legal executive (CILEx).
- Company secretarial qualification (ICSA) or demonstrable equivalent experience is highly desirable but not essential.
