The i Paper is looking for a skilled Lifestyle and Consumer Health Writer to produce smart, original and insightful lifestyle and consumer health content for our digital audience. As part of our growing team, you will conceive, develop and write high-quality content across all areas of lifestyle, with a focus on consumer health, but also covering family, relationships and sex, lifestyle trends, education and more.

You will be full of ideas for both younger and older audiences, have a sharp news instinct informing fresh angles that bounce off the news agenda to enlighten and entertain our digital readership. You will have an understanding of the needs of multiple platforms and the ability to produce engaging content in different formats (video, newsletters, text). We’re looking for a team player with lots of ideas and energy who will thrive in a fast‑paced environment.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Generate original angles that pivot off the news agenda to help grow our audience online.
  • Produce high-quality, well researched and compelling content that works across all platforms.
  • Have great contacts in publishing, secure interviews and extracts of relevant books; keep on top of new releases, and plan ahead using publication schedules.
  • Monitor podcasts, social media feeds and trends; come up with compelling ways to report on emerging lifestyle and consumer health trends.
  • Maintain ownership of a diary of relevant events and forward plan effectively, identifying opportunities for compelling features.
  • Use audience insight and data to inform ideas and commissioning.
  • Work quickly, creatively and accurately under pressure to deadline.

Person Specification:

  • A self-starter bursting with ideas and a track record in developing smart, original journalism that cuts through online.
  • Ability to write sparkling, accurate and engaging copy under pressure.
  • Adept at using data to inspire ideas and commissioning.
  • Strong contacts and demonstrable ability to use them to create impactful journalism.
  • Experience of working in a multiplatform or digital publishing environment.
  • A commitment to The i Paper's editorial standards of impartial and incisive coverage.
  • Experience with digital CMS desirable.
  • Good knowledge of media law and the Editors’ Code of Practice.
