We have an exciting new opportunity available for a Senior Product Designer to join our team at Harmsworth Media, working across both of our flagship publications The I Paper and New Scientist. You will play a pivotal role in elevating the end-to-end customer experience across all our digital touch-points; driving reader engagement and subscriber revenue growth. You will work closely with editorial, technology, and marketing teams to deliver innovation and craft exceptional user experiences across our digital platforms. We are seeking someone who understands and applies best practices in product and customer experience design. You are motivated to refine customer journeys, engage in UX research, and analyse user behaviours to maximise how our products impact actions and outcomes. You have a keen eye for user interface aesthetics and enjoy iteratively refining our product UIs based on observation and feedback. The ideal candidate is curious, collaborative, and passionate about problem-solving and simplifying processes.
Harmsworth Media is a division within DMGT focused on growing premium subscription businesses. Currently, it is home to New Scientist and The I Paper, two publishing brands with ambitious strategic investments.
Responsibilities- Guide the design process from concept to implementation, working closely with design leadership, product managers, editorial teams, developers, and stakeholders on handsâon UX and UI work across multiple touch-points; including website, app, newsletters, and other digital products.
- Collaborate with design leadership and team members to remove roadblocks and guide decisionâmaking through ambiguity, ensuring choices are grounded in data and UX best practices.
- Create user personas, journey maps, wireframes, prototypes, and highâfidelity designs for new features and improvements.
- Contribute to and maintain a cohesive design system, ensuring consistency and scalability across all digital products.
- Confidently present design tradeâoffs to senior stakeholders, promoting compromise and clarity when delivery expectations shift.
- You thrive in a fastâpaced environment where the brief is sometimes ambiguous but the goal is always clear: delivering worldâclass digital experiences.
- 5+ years in Product Design, with at least 2 years at a senior level.
- Experience in editorial, publishing, or newsâled environments is a significant plus.
- You have a portfolio that showcases complex problemâsolving, a clean aesthetic, and a deep commitment to accessibility and usability.
- Confident facilitating UX and design thinking workshops for key stakeholders across the business.
- You have experience working with design systems, design tokens and atomic design principles.
- Proficiency in industryâstandard design and prototyping tools.
- A thorough understanding and knowledge of UX & Accessibility best practices.
- Experience with user research methodologies and usability testing.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and experience interfacing with a broad range of stakeholders.
