About Us

DMG New Media is the Daily Mail’s social publisher, bringing the future of news and entertainment to Gen Z and young millennials. Our mission is simple: To inform, entertain and inspire the next generation through brilliant social storytelling. Our creatives and talent are deeply rooted in the communities we reach.

About the role

DMG New Media is looking for a Mid-weight Social Video Editor to turn our studio-based and presenter-led content into polished, platform-ready videos for TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts. Working from our London newsroom, you'll edit a high volume of short-form content at pace, including explainers, straight-to-camera videos and recurring formats such as Mail Talks. You'll take edits from raw studio footage through to fully subtitled, publish-ready delivery, often within the same day. You'll work closely with creators, producers and videographers to shape compelling, social-first and presenter-led content — spanning deep-dive, feature and investigative formats, and much more. Your remit will also extend across commercial projects, editing commercial and editorial content across the Daily Mail portfolio of pages. You'll take ownership of edits from brief through to publish, working closely with producers, reporters and senior editors to deliver creative, accurate and engaging video to a consistently high standard. Experience with motion design and After Effects/graphics would be a big bonus for this role.

Main Responsibilities

  • Edit presenter-led, explainer and other short-form social videos from studio rushes through to final delivery.
  • Work with creators, producers and videographers to create compelling social-first and presenter-led content across deep-dive, feature, investigative and other formats.
  • Follow established templates and brand guidelines while maintaining a strong sense of pace, creative flare, structure and visual storytelling.
  • Edit commercial and editorial content across the Daily Mail portfolio of pages.
  • Add graphics, captions, subtitles and branding to elevate storytelling.
  • Help shape post-production workflows and editing practices from ingest to delivery, ensuring a consistent and efficient editing process.
  • Prepare templates and guides, and help allocate tasks to editors.
  • Respond clearly and efficiently to feedback, often working to tight or same-day deadlines.

Person Specification

  • Experience creating short-form video for social media, with a good understanding of what works across TikTok, Reels and Shorts.
  • Proven ability to manage your own edits independently and maintain high standards under pressure.
  • Experience editing in a newsroom, digital publisher or similarly fast-paced environment.
  • Strong Premiere Pro skills.
  • Confident working with subtitles, music, sound mixing, graphics and basic visual effects.
  • Motion design and After Effects/graphics skills are a strong bonus.
  • A strong eye for pacing, selecting engaging opening moments and keeping viewers’ attention.
  • Strong communication skills, meticulous attention to detail and confidence working collaboratively with feedback.

Our Commitment

We are committed to increasing diversity and maintaining an inclusive workplace culture. We welcome applications from all qualified candidates regardless of their ethnicity, race, gender, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, age, marital status, or disability. We are Disability Confident Committed. Please let us know if you require any recruitment documentation in other formats or if you require reasonable adjustments to be made during the recruitment process.
