You'll be a natural storyteller with a sharp understanding of what makes people click, read and subscribe, focusing on lifestyle, culture, relationships, entertainment and real-life stories. The ideal candidate will have more than a year/two years of experience working in digital publishing, and be hungry to learn, full of ideas and ready to hit the ground running. Please note, this is not an entry level role.
Main Responsibilities
- Pitch, research and write daily digital-first features across lifestyle, entertainment, relationships and real-life topics, reporting to the Digital and Subscriptions Director.
- Identify emerging audience interests and translate them into engaging, accessible content for a mass-market readership.
- Produce high-traffic stories with a growing understanding of SEO, audience engagement and digital performance.
- Conduct interviews with experts, celebrities and case studies, building industry contacts.
- Contribute ideas to digital strategy, headline discussions and audience-led content planning.
- Support the magazine features desk with researching and compiling stories when needed.
- (While this role is primarily digital focused, there will be opportunity for the right candidate to work across print features).
Person Specification
- One to three years of experience in digital publishing.
- Strong writing skills with the ability to adapt your voice for a mass-market audience and work to a daily deadline.
- An ideas person – you'll be pitching multiple pieces every day.
- A genuine interest in SEO and digital performance -- you understand how to produce subscription-driving content.
- Familiarity with digital publishing CMS platforms is a plus but not essential; training will be provided.
- Eager, organised and calm under pressure in a fast-paced newsroom environment.
