The Commercial Sales Manager will be responsible for retention, management and growth of Exhibitors at one of our flagship energy events. The global energy division at dmg events includes several high-profile and long running events. This role will work on one of our flagship events. Our energy events are supported by many of the world's leading national and international oil companies, industry service providers and key Government bodies. Developing effective digital engagement strategies is critical for the future of the events.
Key Accountabilities
- Managing a portfolio of accounts with five and six figure contract value.
- Cultivate strong relationships with a cross-section of stakeholders with a consultative approach including agents, trade associations and government departments.
- Achieving and exceeding agreed show and personal revenue and profit targets.
- Undertaking research to understand the market objectives, aims and ambitions of your client base.
- To work closely with and within each business to identify its aims, objectives and requirements.
- Tailor opportunities available, creating strong partnership propositions.
- To identify new business opportunities and develop them into long-term relationships through agent sales.
- Work closely with other departments, content, marketing, and to operate as one team.
- Attend events and liaising with clients onsite to ensure that their contract is fulfilled and all their concerns and needs are addressed.
- Keep up to date via a wide range of material including various industry publications relevant to the topic areas and audiences of assigned conferences for developments and trends in the industry.
Job Context
We are looking for an experienced and influential individual with excellent working relationships within both the energy (particularly oil & gas) and event organisation sectors, with proven event leadership and management experience and business development skills, which will ensure the continued growth of the divisions leading global events. The successful candidate will be expected to achieve high outbound call levels and specifically driving new business revenues. The candidate will need to have a determined and committed attitude to stand out as a high performing commercial specialist transacting on a daily basis aiming to be a top performer.
Qualifications, Experience & Skills
Minimum Qualifications and Knowledge
- Experience selling on large Exhibitions.
- Experience of new business generation.
- Can showcase strong skill set including lead generation, cold calling, working with CRM systems, cultivating exhibition proposals and identifying the right decision-makers to sign-off a sale.
- Demonstratable experience with reporting.
- A bonus would be to have worked in the energy market, but not a requirement.
Minimum Experience
3 years’ experience in B2B conference and exhibition sales, working in either domestic or global market.
