Overview

We are seeking a dynamic, driven and highly organised Deputy News Editor to join our award-winning team at The Mail on Sunday. As Deputy News Editor, you’ll play a pivotal part in leading the news operation, breaking scoops and making sure The Mail on Sunday is always ahead of its rivals. You will work alongside the Head of News to oversee top quality news coverage and exclusive stories, working with a talented team of reporters.

Main Responsibilities

  • Inspiring reporters and ensuring they consistently deliver big, exclusive stories
  • Assisting the Head of News with managing the desk and reporters, and preparing news lists
  • Editing copy at speed and to the highest standard
  • Coming up with creative, workable ideas for stories and investigations
  • Ensuring stories are produced in accordance with applicable laws and the Editors’ Code
  • Maintaining good relationships with freelancers and other contributors
  • Deputising for the Head of News when necessary

This role is Tuesday to Friday and is based in our offices in Kensington, London.
