Assistant News Editor – Daily Mail, DMG Delta
We are seeking a highly organised, enthusiastic and driven Assistant News Editor to join the Daily Mail news desk.
The role involves overseeing stories from beginning to end, assisting with news page editing, newsgathering, copy editing and headline writing.
Main Responsibilities
- Manage reporters and ensure the quality and speed of their output
- Write strong, engaging headlines and copy
- Ensure the best use of pictures and video
- Keep on top of the news agenda and spot potential new lines
- Edit copy at speed and to the highest standard
- Have a can do attitude and work well as part of a team
- Ensure stories are produced in accordance with applicable laws and the Editors’ Code
- Use analytics and work with the audience team to ensure we are covering the best stories
Qualifications – Experience on a news desk, or senior reporting, is essential together with an understanding of digital 24‑hour news and the processes and pressures of operating in this environment.
