Role Description
This is a full-time remote role for a Consultant Costs Draftsman (Legal Aid Specialist). The Consultant Costs Draftsman will be responsible for drafting Bills of Costs, preparing Precedent H budgets, managing Points of Dispute and Replies, and negotiating settlements. Additionally, the role involves handling Part 8 costs-only proceedings and representing clients at detailed assessments. Collaboration with legal teams to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant cost recovery is a key part of this role.
Qualifications
- Expertise in drafting Bills of Costs and Precedent H budgets
- Proficient in managing Points of Dispute and Replies
- Strong negotiation skills and experience in securing settlements
- Familiarity with CPR and experience in Part 8 costs-only proceedings
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and remotely
- Experience in personal injury, industrial disease, clinical negligence, housing disrepair, and credit-hire work
- Previous experience as a costs draftsman or similar role
