The predicted salary is between 13 - 13 £ per hour.

Provide essential support during dermatology clinics, assisting clinicians and nurses with patient care and clinic preparation. Prepare rooms, equipment and patients for consultations, minor procedures and treatments. Maintain a clean, safe and organised clinical environment and support administrative duties such as documentation, stock management and patient flow. Offer compassionate support to patients throughout their time in clinic.

Key Objectives/Goals

  • Support clinicians and nurses by preparing patients, clinical rooms and equipment.
  • Maintain high infection prevention standards and ensure safe clinic environments.
  • Assist with basic clinical tasks within defined competencies.
  • Provide excellent patient communication and support throughout the care process.
  • Contribute to smooth clinic flow through effective organisation and teamwork.
  • Support governance, audit and QI initiatives.

Reporting Line / Team Structure

Reports to the Dermatology Lead Nurse or Service Manager. Works closely with Dermatology Nurses, Dermatologists, Healthcare Assistants and administrative colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare clinic rooms and treatment areas in accordance with dermatology and infection control standards.
  • Assist clinicians and nurses with patient preparation and clinic procedures within competency boundaries.
  • Support patients during consultations and minor procedures by providing reassurance and clear communication.
  • Ensure equipment is clean, safe and available for use, reporting any issues promptly.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of basic clinical information and support administrative tasks when needed.
  • Chaperone patients during examinations or procedures.
  • Manage clinical stock levels and ensure consumables are replenished.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe environment, adhering to health and safety requirements.
  • Contribute to smooth patient flow throughout the clinic.
  • Maintain infection prevention and safe clinic standards.

Essential

  • Experience working within a healthcare or clinical environment.
  • Ability to follow clinical instructions, protocols and infection control procedures.
  • Good communication skills and ability to support patients with empathy and professionalism.
  • Organisational skills and ability to manage tasks in a busy outpatient setting.
  • Willingness to undertake dermatology-specific training.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Basic IT skills and ability to document information accurately.
  • Leadership and audit participation.

Desirable

  • Previous experience within dermatology, outpatient clinics or minor procedure settings.
  • Experience supporting minor surgery or wound care.
  • Experience with stock management, room preparation or patient chaperoning.
  • Knowledge of basic clinical terminology and dermatology pathways.
  • Clean driving licence (multi-site service delivery).

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Understanding of infection prevention, cleaning standards and safe equipment handling.
  • Ability to prepare clinical rooms and ensure readiness for procedures.
  • Ability to provide reassurance and support to patients before and during appointments.
  • Awareness of confidentiality, data protection and patient dignity standards.
  • Ability to multitask while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to coordinate complex cases and escalate clinical concerns.

Experience

  • Experience in a healthcare, patient-facing or support worker role.
  • Experience preparing clinical areas or supporting clinical teams is beneficial.
  • Experience in dermatology settings is desirable but not essential.
  • Experience across primary/community and secondary care (desirable).

Travel requirements

Multi-site role across North Lincolnshire — own transport required.
