Our client is a highly successful and fast-growing waste brokerage business, currently turning over approximately £60-70m following strong growth of over 50% in the last four years. They provide a fully consultative waste management service across all sectors, including general waste, recycling, hazardous waste and clinical waste. Acting as a broker, they help clients secure the most efficient and cost-effective waste solutions rather than delivering collections directly.
Due to continued growth, they are now looking to appoint a number of Business Development Managers to support both new business acquisition and account growth across the UK. This is a true 360 sales role where you will be responsible for generating your own pipeline, winning new business, closing deals, and then managing and developing your accounts for the first 12-13 months to maximise spend and long-term value.
The role covers two key areas:
- Adhoc / spot sales - fast-paced, site-based, price-driven work (often within construction environments)
- Commercial contract sales - longer-term, consultative business focused on relationship building and retention
In the first year, successful BDMs are typically expected to generate around £500k - £750k revenue contribution, depending on start date and ramp-up period. They are open on industry background; however, success tends to come from individuals with experience in proactive, consultative sales environments such as waste, facilities management, logistics, automotive aftersales, or similar B2B sales roles. Strong sales professionals from outside of industry are also encouraged if they can demonstrate a clear and structured approach to winning business.
The key to success in this role is a proactive, self-starting mindset. The team are looking for individuals who can clearly explain their sales process, demonstrate how they win business, and show strong drive and resilience both inside and outside of work. This is an excellent opportunity to join a fast-growing, well-established business with strong leadership, clear direction, and genuine long-term career potential within the sector.
