Freight Forwarding Assistant

Job Title: Freight Forwarding Assistant Location: Immingham Salary: £25,000 – £30,000 (subject to experience) Reports To: Freight Forwarding Manager Role Overview: We are seeking a proactive and skilled Freight Forwarding Assistant to manage the smooth operation of forwarding activities. This role involves handling the entire process, from quoting to invoicing, ensuring top-tier service and operational excellence. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in customs formalities, logistics negotiations, and a strong understanding of freight forwarding operations. Key Responsibilities: Oversee import and export customs formalities in the UK and abroad, including customs entries for both imports and exports. Utilise knowledge of systems such as Destin8 (advantageous). Manage relationships with shipping lines, particularly those serving Iberian, Italian, Benelux, and Chinese markets. Negotiate competitive rates with shipping lines, hauliers, and other logistics partners. Ensure efficient communication across all levels and provide proactive problem-solving.
