We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Slitting Operator to join our flexible packaging production team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating slitting machines to convert large rolls of flexible packaging materials (such as films, laminates, or foils) into smaller, customer-specified widths and lengths. This position requires a strong mechanical aptitude, commitment to safety, and the ability to ensure product quality according to specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate slitting machines according to job specifications and production schedules.
- Monitor slitting equipment during operation to ensure optimal performance and product quality.
- Load and unload rolls of material using hoists or lift equipment.
- Measure and inspect finished rolls for width, cut accuracy, and material integrity.
- Perform basic troubleshooting and adjustments to maintain machine efficiency.
- Record production data, including material usage, output, and waste.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with 5S and safety standards.
- Follow all company safety protocols and procedures.
- Communicate any equipment issues or material inconsistencies to the supervisor.
- Assist with machine maintenance and cleaning during scheduled downtime.
Qualifications
- Secondary school education.
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience operating slitting machines, preferably in flexible packaging or converting industries.
- Basic mechanical and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read and interpret work orders, artwork, and production specifications.
- Comfortable working with measuring tools such as rulers.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality.
- Ability to lift heavy rolls and stand for extended periods.
- Willingness to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with specific slitting equipment (e.g., Dusenbery, Kampf, Atlas, etc.).
- Knowledge of flexible packaging materials such as PET, PE, BOPP, and laminated structures.
- Familiarity with ERP systems or production tracking software.
