As part of our continued growth and development within the UK market, we are looking to recruit an experienced Transport Manager who will play a key role in the ongoing development and growth of our UK transport operation.
The Role
Reporting directly to the UK Operations Director, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of our transport operation, based in Kettering Area, ensuring that all activities are carried out safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with all relevant legislation and regulations.
You will lead the transport team and work closely with internal departments and key stakeholders across the business.
In addition to managing the daily operation, you will play an important role in improving processes, developing employees, and supporting the continued growth of the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day transport operation of a fleet of approximately 40 HGV vehicles.
- Ensure full compliance with UK transport legislation, DVSA regulations, and Operator Licence requirements.
- Oversee drivers' hours, Working Time Directive compliance, tachograph management, licence checks, and CPC requirements.
- Lead, coach, and develop drivers and other members of the transport team.
- Maintain fleet compliance, vehicle maintenance schedules, defect reporting, and vehicle availability.
- Optimise transport planning and vehicle utilisation while maintaining exceptional customer service standards.
- Monitor KPIs, costs, and performance, driving continuous improvements in efficiency, service quality, and profitability.
- Manage incidents, escalations, compliance-related matters, and customer-focused improvement initiatives.
- Work closely with internal departments in the UK and The Netherlands to ensure seamless service delivery and operational performance.
- Promote a strong culture of Health & Safety, compliance, quality, engagement, and continuous improvement throughout the operation.
Requirements
We are looking for an experienced transport professional who combines strong operational management skills with effective leadership. You will have:
- Proven experience as a Transport Manager in a similar management role.
- Experience managing a large HGV fleet, ideally within a fleet of 80+ vehicles.
- Strong knowledge of UK transport legislation, DVSA regulations, and Operator Licence compliance.
- Experience in transport planning, fleet management, and performance management.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- A proactive, hands-on approach and the ability to prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience using transport management systems and Microsoft Office.
- Experience within temperature-controlled logistics or food logistics preferred.
- Experience working within a fast-growing organisation.
Essential Qualifications
- International CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence).
Desirable Qualifications
- IOSH Managing Safely or similar Health & Safety qualification
