The International Marketing & BD Executives provide support across a range of marketing and business development activities for our International Sectors and Practice Groups. We operate in a matrix structure where we have organized the different types of legal expertise in practice groups, and the different types of clients we focus on in sectors. In this particular Marketing & BD Executive role, you will be aligned 50/50 to one sector and one practice group: the Life Sciences sector, and the Employment group. Major themes and market developments that we focus on in this group and sector include ESG and sustainability, quickly evolving technological advancements including AI, and the impact of the geopolitical environment on industry. You will deliver a wide range of activities to support these teams.
You will be required to support the Marketing & BD Managers and Senior Managers, provide advice and guidance direct to our partner / lawyer community, and delegate and manage workflow to others to support you in the delivery of tasks. You will work closely with colleagues in our Global Service Centre based in Warsaw. In the International Marketing & BD Executives team, you will share knowledge and best practice in all areas of marketing, communications and BD, in relation to sectors and practice groups. This role will have particular focus on all countries outside of the Americas, but will at all times be working closely in alignment with US sector and practice group counterparts. The international scope and varied nature of this role means candidates will have exposure to all areas of marketing activity across the business, offering the opportunity to develop their careers as a result of the well‑rounded knowledge they will obtain.
Main duties and responsibilities
- Marketing
- Coordinate the development and delivery of marketing campaigns and initiatives aligned to your sector and practice group strategies, with guidance from MBD Managers and Senior MBD Managers.
- Coordinate the production of marketing collateral including brochures, capability statements, and credentials documents.
- Coordinate, plan, deliver, and host internal and external events (virtual and in‑person), sponsorships, digital content, and submissions for directories, awards and / or league tables, with guidance from MBD Managers and Senior MBD Managers.
- Advise on the use of, coordinate and produce assets to be used in PR and external comms including campaigns and thought leadership.
- Coordinate internal communications through various channels.
- Business Development
- Support MBD Managers and Senior MBD Managers in the development and implementation of business development plans and budgets, including research and analysis to feed into these plans.
- Support client targeting initiatives.
- Prepare required materials for business development meetings with stakeholders.
- Prepare and produce innovative client materials.
- Support in responding to specific client questions and requests for information and materials.
- Support the development and production of value added tools.
- Client Relationship Management
- Support in research and identification of client development opportunities.
- Support in capturing all data regarding client activity and progress against client plans.
- Support the production of recurring client updates including value adds, and advise on relevant client events.
- Support senior colleagues in client listening programmes and use outputs to identify key themes and opportunities.
- Pitches
- Support in creating proposals, bids and tenders for new business opportunities, including introductory materials, capability statements, matter pitches, etc.
- Develop pitch books, credentials, case studies, testimonials and other marketing collateral in line with the firm’s overall brand.
- Facilitate the collation, extraction and integration of credentials from and into our various firm marketing systems when appropriate.
The role holder may be required to undertake additional duties from time to time.
About You
- Be able to coordinate marketing and business development projects, including proposals and pitches, campaigns, thought leadership, and events, ensuring alignment with firm‑wide objectives and timelines, with guidance from MBD managers and senior MBD managers.
- Have a sound understanding of professional marketing approaches, new business issues, sales and pitch processes within the legal sector and particularly how these apply to sector and practice group marketing strategies.
- Have the ability to see delegated tasks through to completion at a high standard and with attention to detail, while staying calm and composed in often demanding situations.
- Be confident operating on their own initiative, including tasks to improve team processes, manage MBD systems, maintain accurate and up‑to‑date data on credentials, pitch activity, and client engagement.
- Be able to deal with a demanding workload and conflicting priorities, while multi‑tasking and working to deadlines, being methodical and logical, and ultimately thriving in a robust and fast‑paced environment.
- Have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to exercise tact and diplomacy with colleagues (both senior and junior).
- Display a consistently positive attitude and adopt a ‘can do’ approach as well as being able to work well as part of a wider team.
- Demonstrate a professional approach in terms of commitment and internal client care, as well as being able to provide a high quality service and excellent stakeholder management whilst operating remotely from the end user.
- Demonstrate subject matter comprehension in their aligned sector and practice group, seeking to learn more about the sub‑sectors, markets and key clients in the sector(s) aligned to own role.
- Demonstrate ability to understand and identify with the firm and its objectives and values.
As Well As
- Be IT literate in Microsoft Office.
- Familiarity with the firm’s client intelligence (InterAction, PowerBI), AI (Copilot), and pitch tools (Experience Hub / InTapp, and Qorus) is desirable.
- Hold a Degree/CIM Professional Certificate in Marketing (desirable).
- Have previous experience in marketing and business development, ideally within a law firm or professional services environment (desirable).
