Responsibilities include supporting the non-nuclear material and service requirements related to the NAVSEA Portsmouth Naval Shipyard maintenance availability both on and off yard. Perform and provide the results of in-depth research and analysis of supply orders’ validity and compliance with regulations. Conduct supply transactions such as data entry, report generation and retrieval, and in-depth research. Perform exhaustive research that includes identification of alternate available items, vendors, sources of supply, methods of procurement, or causative analysis of major discrepancies. Contact customers, supply organizations, transportation units, and others regarding price changes, special handling, to obtain material status information, follow-up on urgently required items, and/or expedite delivery of material to work sites.
Requirements:
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Tour of Duty: Set Schedule – Monday through Friday 0730-1600.
- Security Requirements: Non-Critical Sensitive with Confidential Access.
- Appointment subject to completion of suitable suitability or fitness determination; unfavorable background checks may lead to removal.
- Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA): Non-Exempt.

Qualifications:
To qualify for a Supply Technician, applicants must meet the specialized experience and education requirements described below. Experience is measured for GS levels 05-07.
- GS-05: Maintain customer data and respond to customer inquiries. Provide order status information to customers and take action to ensure timely support. Ensure accuracy of a variety of supply documents and expedite material within various supply agencies.
- GS-06: Provide supply support for production, overhaul, repair, or other operations for items requiring special handling. Investigate, coordinate and process requisitions requesting corrective actions to ensure proper flow through automated systems. Identify alternate sources of supply to meet required need dates.
- GS-07: Maintain data in automated supply systems in order to respond to inquiries and process a wide variety of routine and complex supply transactions and adjustments. Follow up on unfulfilled orders and process order cancellations when necessary. Conduct extensive searches to gather information, research problems encountered, reconstruct and resolve material problems. Track and provide status of actions and/or the availability of lateral support and cross-agency sources of supply to avoid or alleviate work stoppages. Ensure configuration control is enforced on all repair part requisitions.
Education Substitution:
- GS-05: At least four years of education above high school level in any field, with coursework demonstrating the necessary knowledge and skills.
- GS-06/GS-07: Generally not creditable above GS-5, although graduate education directly related to the work may be credited.
