DKM Sheet Metal are looking for an experienced, proactive Quality Inspector & Compliance
This is not a traditional inspection role.
We are looking for someone who understands manufacturing processes and enjoys solving problems, not simply identifying them.
The successful candidate will work closely with production teams to investigate quality issues, identify root causes and help implement practical corrective actions that improve quality throughout the business.
Working within our busy manufacturing environment, you will be responsible for carrying out first-off, in-process and final inspection of fabricated, laser cut, punched, folded, welded and powder-coated components.
Alongside inspection duties, you will support wider quality and compliance activities, helping to maintain the high standards expected by our customers.
This will include Quality and parts of Health & Safety
This is a hands-on position suited to someone who enjoys being on the shop floor and working directly with production teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out first-off, in-process and final inspection of manufactured components.
- Verify products against engineering drawings, customer specifications and quality standards.
- Identify non-conformances and work with production personnel to determine practical corrective actions.
- Assist in root cause investigations and support continuous improvement activities.
- Complete First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR) and customer quality documentation.
- Maintain accurate inspection records and quality documentation.
- Support internal quality audits and customer quality requirements.
- Assist with wider compliance activities, including supporting quality systems and selected health and safety initiatives.
- Ensure measuring equipment is correctly maintained and calibrated.
- Promote a culture of quality throughout the business.
About You
We're looking for someone who understands manufacturing and enjoys finding solutions rather than simply highlighting problems.
You will ideally have
- Previous experience within sheet metal fabrication, precision engineering or a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in a Quality Inspector or Manufacturing Engineering role.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Ability to use CMM and other measuring equipment
- Experience using a wide range of measuring equipment including verniers, micrometers, height gauges and other inspection tools.
- Good understanding of dimensional tolerances and manufacturing processes.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills with the confidence to work alongside production teams.
- A proactive, practical approach to problem solving.
- Good computer skills and experience completing quality documentation.
The following would be advantageous but is not essential
- Experience completing First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR).
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality systems.
- Experience of root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Previous involvement with compliance or health and safety activities.
- Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI) certification or previous experience carrying out MPI inspections.
