We’re recruiting a Multi-Skilled Operative to carry out building maintenance and making-good works following heating system installations in social housing properties. This is a varied, hands-on role requiring a professional approach, strong workmanship, and excellent customer interaction.
The Role
You’ll be responsible for completing remedial and finishing works after installations, supporting installers on site, and delivering high-quality repairs and refurbishments in occupied homes.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out maintenance, repair, and making-good works post-installation
- Assist installation teams with on-site works as required
- Complete bathroom refurbishments including carpentry, tiling, painting, and minor plumbing
- Deliver all works safely, efficiently, and to a high-quality finish
- Ensure compliance with company procedures, codes of practice, and industry standards
- Accurately complete job records via handheld/mobile systems
- Liaise professionally with residents and clients throughout works
- Ensure PPE and tools are present, safe, and in good working order
- Keep appointments and keep tenants/clients informed
- Report variations and site changes to the admin team
- Work closely with engineers and trades to meet project targets
Skills & Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent)
- Strong all-round building maintenance skills, with a bias towards carpentry
- Experience in tiling, decorating, and minor plumbing
- Professional, punctual, and flexible
- Confident using mobile PDA/handheld systems
Experience Required
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role
- Social housing experience preferred
- Experience working in occupied properties and dealing directly with residents
- Full UK driving licence
- DBS check required
