About the Company
Our client is a leading contractor with an established reputation for delivering high-quality construction and infrastructure projects across the South West. Due to continued growth and a strong project pipeline, they are seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to join their expanding team in Devon.
The Role
As a Structural Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, analysis, and delivery of structural solutions across a diverse portfolio of projects across engineering developments. Working closely with project teams, clients, and stakeholders, you will ensure structural integrity, compliance, and efficient project delivery from concept through to completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and analyse structural elements using appropriate engineering principles and software.
- Prepare structural calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical reports.
- Undertake site inspections and structural surveys.
- Collaborate with clients, architects, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant British Standards, Eurocodes, and current regulations.
- Support project delivery by providing technical expertise throughout construction phases.
- Identify and resolve engineering challenges and provide practical solutions.
- Assist with project planning, budgeting, and programme management where required.
- Review and approve design work produced by junior engineers and technicians.
- Maintain high standards of health, safety, quality, and environmental compliance.
Requirements
Essential
- Degree qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Minimum 3 years' experience within a structural engineering environment.
- Strong knowledge of structural design principles and UK building regulations.
- Experience working on commercial, residential, industrial, or infrastructure projects.
- Proficient in structural design software and engineering calculations.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable
- Chartered or working towards Chartered status (ICE or IStructE).
- Experience using AutoCAD, Tekla Structural Designer, TEDDS, or similar software.
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge of temporary works design and construction methodologies.
