Opportunity to join an established, successful and expanding furniture manufacturing business. As a Bench Carpenter, you'll play a central role in crafting our luxury furniture. This is hands-on, woodworking assembly ideal for someone who takes pride in craftsmanship while embracing modern manufacturing techniques. You'll work closely with upholsterers and production leads to bring exceptional, hand-finished products to life.
Key responsibilities:
- Craft high-quality furniture frames and components using both hand tools and workshop machinery.
- Interpret technical drawings and specifications to produce accurate, consistent parts.
- Assemble bespoke and standard product lines, ensuring structural integrity and flawless finish.
- Select, prepare, and work with premium hardwoods and solid timbers, maintaining the highest standards of material handling.
- Perform fine finishing tasks, including sanding, shaping, and detailing to luxury-grade standards.
- Collaborate with design and upholstery teams to ensure seamless integration of wooden components.
- Maintain workshop equipment and uphold a safe, clean, and organised working environment.
- Contribute to continuous improvement, offering ideas to enhance quality, efficiency, and craftsmanship.
- Support with the training and development of Fitters, sharing best practices, demonstrating techniques, and helping to uphold the company's high standards of craftsmanship.
Skills and Experience:
- Proven experience as a bench joiner, bench carpenter, cabinet maker, or similar craft-based woodworking role.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
- Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, and woodworking machinery.
- Excellent attention to detail with a passion for producing high-end, hand-finished products.
- Experience working with solid timber, veneers, and hardwoods.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative workshop team.
Hours of work - 39 hours a week (Mon to Thurs & Fri)
