The Opportunity
This is not a “keep the lights on” role. This is an opportunity to take full ownership of a large-scale, business-critical infrastructure estate within a complex, multi-site organisation undergoing ongoing modernisation. You’ll step into a position where you are trusted with the keys to the kingdom — responsible for ensuring systems are stable, secure, and continuously improving across a diverse environment that supports thousands of users and physical locations. If you’re someone who enjoys being close to the technology, solving real problems, and making meaningful improvements, this role offers genuine impact and long-term ownership.
The Environment
You’ll be working across a broad, hybrid infrastructure estate, including:
- Microsoft Azure and core cloud services
- Enterprise endpoint management (Intune / device estate)
- On-premise infrastructure, servers, and storage
- Networking, connectivity, and SD-WAN environments
- Identity, security, and monitoring tooling
This is a real-world, operational environment — not greenfield, not over-engineered — where practical thinking, ownership, and technical judgement matter.
The Role
This is a hands-on senior position within a small, experienced team. You will:
- Own and manage Azure infrastructure and core services
- Maintain and improve endpoint and device management
- Support and enhance networking, connectivity, and site infrastructure
- Manage servers, backups, resilience, and security posture
- Act as the senior escalation point for complex infrastructure issues
- Drive incremental improvements and modernisation initiatives
- Work closely with internal teams and third-party partners to ensure stability and performance
You will not be sitting behind layers of process — you will be making decisions, solving problems, and delivering outcomes.
What They’re Looking For
- Strong hands-on infrastructure background across Microsoft environments
- Solid experience with Azure, M365, and endpoint management (Intune)
- Good understanding of networking fundamentals (VPNs, firewalls, connectivity)
- Experience supporting multi-site or distributed environments
- Someone who thinks like an owner, not a ticket-closer
- Comfortable balancing BAU, incident response, and improvement work
Why This Role
- Real ownership of a complex estate — not siloed responsibility
- Opportunity to shape and improve systems that support thousands of users
- Work in a stable, long-term environment where your impact is visible
- Be part of a team that values practical engineering over theory
- A role that offers breadth, autonomy, and trust
The Fit
This role suits someone who:
- Has outgrown pure support but doesn’t want to step away from hands-on work
- Enjoys solving real infrastructure problems in complex environments
- Wants to be trusted to make decisions and own outcomes
- Is looking for stability, responsibility, and long-term impact
