Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert VAT advisory services to clients across a wide range of industries, ensuring compliance with VAT regulations and identifying opportunities for tax efficiencies.
- Support internal teams by offering VAT advice on various matters and client‑specific VAT queries.
- Advise clients on the VAT implications of complex real estate transactions, such as options to tax, TOGCs, and the Capital Goods Scheme.
- Liaise with external authorities, including HMRC, to resolve technical VAT issues for clients.
- Monitor and interpret changes in VAT legislation, case law, and HMRC guidance, advising clients and internal stakeholders on the potential impact.
- Provide practical VAT solutions and recommendations to help clients streamline processes, improve VAT compliance, and mitigate risks.
- Assist with the delivery of VAT training to internal teams, enhancing their understanding of VAT issues and best practices.
- Build strong, lasting relationships with key internal stakeholders and clients, becoming a trusted advisor for all VAT‑related matters.
- Prepare VAT advisory reports for clients, ensuring complex issues are communicated in a clear and actionable way.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Strong knowledge of VAT legislation, case law, and VAT compliance requirements.
- Based locally out of one of our offices across the Northwest, Midlands or Yorkshire.
- Previous experience in VAT advisory roles, ideally within an accountancy practice or consultancy setting.
- Excellent communicator, with the ability to convey complex VAT matters to non‑tax professionals.
- Strong analytical skills and a proactive, solution‑oriented approach.
- Relevant qualifications (ATT, part‑qualified CTA, or equivalent) are preferred but not essential.
- Detail‑oriented, adaptable, and able to work under pressure.
- Client‑focused with the ability to build relationships and provide high‑quality service.
- Team player with the ability to collaborate across multiple offices.
