The Portfolio Capacity Manager is responsible for managing and optimising resource capacity across Currys’ transformation portfolio. This role ensures the effective allocation of both business and delivery resources maximising programme delivery and business value. The Portfolio Capacity Manager works closely with programme and workstream leads, HR, and senior leadership to forecast, plan, and coordinate resource requirements across major transformation initiatives.
Role overview:
- Capacity Management & Planning
- Develop and maintain capacity models for business and delivery teams across transformation programmes.
- Forecast resource requirements based on portfolio demand, programme roadmaps, and shifting business priorities.
- Identify capacity constraints and bottlenecks; recommend solutions such as hiring, redeployment, or engaging external resources.
- Continuously monitor portfolio resource demand versus available capacity, providing actionable insights to leadership.
- Collaborate with Programme Managers and workstream leads to gather accurate resource needs and understand interdependencies across projects and programmes.
- Facilitate portfolio-level resource allocation decisions, balancing competing demands and ensuring critical initiatives are appropriately resourced.
- Support 3-Year Plan reviews and transformation prioritisation exercises by providing capacity impact analyses and scenario planning.
- Governance & Reporting
- Maintain up-to-date resource utilisation dashboards and capacity heatmaps using Planview and Power BI.
- Provide regular capacity reporting to ExCo, Group Leadership Team (GLT), and Transformation Boards, highlighting risks and opportunities.
- Track and report on resource utilisation rates, identifying areas of over- or under-utilisation and recommending corrective actions.
- Stakeholder Management
- Partner with HR and Talent teams to plan resource pipelines and support recruitment or upskilling initiatives as required.
- Work closely with department heads to understand business resource availability and constraints.
- Build effective relationships across IT, Operations, Commercial, and other business functions to support integrated resource planning.
Role Requirements:
- Proven experience in PMO, resource planning, or workforce management within large-scale transformation programmes.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to build, maintain, and present capacity models and forecasts.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with experience working with senior leadership and delivery teams.
- Proficiency in resource management tools (Planview preferred); experience in reporting and dashboarding tools is advantageous.
- Experience in the retail or technology sector is preferred.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail.
- Strong organisational and prioritisation skills; able to manage multiple demands and deadlines.
- Effective communicator, both written and verbal, able to present complex information to a range of audiences.
- Collaborative approach, able to influence and build consensus across diverse stakeholder groups.
- Proactive, solutions-oriented, and resilient under pressure.
- Trustworthy and able to handle confidential information appropriately.
