We’re iD Mobile, one of the UK’s leading mobile virtual network operators. We launched in May 2015 and have over 2.5 million Pay Monthly customers. We’re pretty sure our success has a lot to do with our wide range of feature‑packed plans. We offer everything from super‑value Pay‑as‑you‑go and SIM‑only deals, right up to the latest smartphones from the big‑name manufacturers. We’re delighted about our success so far and have very ambitious plans for the future.
iD Mobile is an exciting place to work. We’re a relatively young and dynamic start‑up, and we value innovation, imagination, and creativity. If you’ve got a great idea, we’ll help you run with it. We’re passionate about finding new ways to address our customers’ needs. We’re a little different to other start‑ups though, because we’re part of Currys PLC, Europe’s leading electrical and mobile retailer. So, while iD Mobile has only been going for a few years, we’re part of a much bigger family.
The MVNO team plays a critical role in delivering iD Mobile's ambition. The primary purpose of the role is to take accountability for the formation, shaping, and ongoing definition of the overarching iD strategic roadmap, including portfolio direction, prioritisation, governance, and alignment to the iD three‑year plan. This role is accountable for shaping, prioritising and governing the strategic change portfolio, ensuring initiatives deliver measurable business outcomes.
Working closely with the iD Leadership Team, Group Commercial, Group Delivery, Group Technology and key partners, the role maintains an outcome‑led roadmap, defines success measures and benefits, and provides clear visibility of progress, risks and dependencies to support timely decision‑making. The role also leads delivery of the iD in‑function change roadmap (a combination of localised initiatives, solution enhancements and operational improvements) and supports the leadership and development of the iD change team, balancing demand, capacity and commercial considerations to deliver change with pace, quality and consistency.
Role overview:
- Understanding iD MVNOs strategic aims and priorities
- Defining and building the strategic roadmap, ensuring sufficient capacity of SME resources to meet demand
- Owning the strategic change agenda, ensuring initiatives align to iD's organisational strategy, commercial ambition, and regulatory needs
- Owning translation of Leadership team initiatives into high level deliverables
- Leading multi‑stakeholder demand shaping and prioritisation across iD teams
- Defining portfolio success criteria and outcome measures, ensuring clarity at programme and enterprise level
- Championing strategic vision for change, articulating clear objectives and ensuring alignment with organisational priorities, group strategy, and stakeholder expectations.
- Leading the preparation and presentation of portfolio status report to senior stakeholders
- Developing and implementing an effective programme governance structure across your portfolio, ensuring disciplined oversight while respecting the delivery accountability of Group Delivery
- Setting portfolio governance, standards, and frameworks to deliver consistent, high‑quality outcomes and risk mitigation
- Providing strategic recommendations, surfacing risks and supporting executive‑level decision‑making
- Owning a view of change related expenditure with suppliers and work with procurement to drive value from these relationships
- Influencing across matrix boundaries to secure alignment, resourcing and strategic support without relying solely on direct line control.
- Lead, inspire, and empower a high‑performing team, establishing a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement across the portfolio function.
You will need:
- Significant experience in portfolio / change leadership, including leading teams and operating senior governance in a matrix environment.
- Portfolio strategy and investment prioritisation: translate business strategy into a coherent, outcome‑led portfolio and prioritised roadmap.
- Strategic planning, resource forecasting and demand management.
- Demonstrable accountability and experience of delivery of high‑value, cross‑functional programmes and measurable outcomes.
- Degree or equivalent in computer science, information technology, management or relevant field
- Programme Management Qualification (e.g. MSP or equivalent)
