The Delivery Portfolio Manager in Technology is responsible for overseeing the delivery of a portfolio of projects, programmes, and continuous delivery streams that align with the strategic objectives and priorities of the organisation. The portfolio manager ensures that the portfolio is well-governed, risk-managed and value-driven, and that the benefits and outcomes are realised and communicated to the stakeholders. This role will lead the Delivery team that is responsible for ensuring cross collaboration and standardisation across the delivery of the Core Platforms. With line management responsibility, the Delivery Portfolio Manager also provides guidance, support and coaching to the Lead, Senior and Delivery Managers, along with wider teams within the portfolio. A key element of the role is building strong relationships with their peers in the delivery teams, as well as the management and Senior Business teams. The role will work in a cross-functional, multi-location team as a business partner, trusted advisor and the first point of escalation.
Role overview:
- Define and maintain the portfolio vision, scope, objectives, and roadmap.
- Establish and implement effective portfolio governance, processes, standards, and tools to ensure quality, consistency, and alignment across the portfolio.
- Monitor and report on the portfolio performance, progress, status, risks, issues, dependencies, and benefits realization using appropriate metrics and dashboards.
- Manage the portfolio budget, resources, and dependencies, and ensure that the portfolio delivers within the agreed time, cost, and quality parameters.
- Facilitate portfolio prioritization, planning, and delivery, and resolve any conflicts or escalations that arise within or across the portfolio.
- Identify and manage portfolio risks and issues and implement mitigation and contingency plans as needed.
- Engage and communicate effectively with the senior leadership, stakeholders, sponsors, customers, and other portfolio groups to ensure alignment, collaboration, and stakeholder satisfaction.
- Provide leadership and coaching to their team and teams within the portfolio.
- Conduct portfolio reviews, audits, and evaluations, and implement lessons learned and best practices to enhance portfolio performance and maturity.
Experience:
- Proven experience in project and programme management, along with portfolio management, preferably in the technology sector.
- A strong knowledge of portfolio management methodologies, frameworks, tools, and best practices, and the ability to apply them in a complex and dynamic environment.
- A proven track record of delivering successful portfolios of technology-enabled change that meet the strategic objectives and expectations of the organization and the stakeholders.
- Particular experience in Supply Chain and Contact Centre Management.
- Warehouse automation and transformation and Contact Centre transformation experience essential.
- Excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills, and the ability to influence, motivate, and inspire others.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, and the ability to handle ambiguity and uncertainty.
- Highly organised, detail-oriented, and results-driven, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- A passion for technology, innovation, and continuous improvement, and the ability to adapt to changing needs and requirements.
- Financial acumen - supporting financial management (planning, tracking, reporting & forecasting) across the program, in collaboration with finance teams.
- Previous demonstrable experience of working on customer-facing projects.
- Experience of implementing business solutions (enabled by technology).
- Ability to manage multi-party delivery teams (internal teams & 3rd party suppliers).
- Proven track record of influencing senior level management and stakeholders.
- Maintaining business buy-in and adoption to the solution throughout the delivery lifecycle.
- Understanding and reporting on dependency impact related to milestone health.
- Supporting and advising on standardisation and simplification across the Technology teams.
- Operational reporting, presentation creation as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, management, or a related field.
- Project Management certification, e.g. Managing Successful Programmes (MSP); Project Methodology (Prince 2, PMP); Agile certifications (PSPO/Scrum, SAFe Practitioner).
