The Role of the Consent & Privacy Tech Specialist is to own the consent and privacy layer that sits at the heart of how Currys collects, manages and activates customer data for marketing. You’ll ensure that consent signals are captured cleanly, flow reliably through our data platform and are respected at every point of activation – so the business can market confidently and compliantly across every channel.
Role overview:
- Owning the configuration and ongoing management of our consent management platform, ensuring it meets regulatory requirements across every market we operate in.
- Designing and maintaining the end‑to‑end flow of consent signals – from the point of collection through to the data platform, audience building and downstream activation channels.
- Partnering with Data Engineering to ensure consent preferences are accurately represented in our data warehouse and respected in all marketing and analytics use cases.
- Working with Marketing, Legal and Privacy teams to translate regulatory requirements (GDPR, PECR, ePrivacy) into practical, well‑documented consent logic and tagging strategies.
- Supporting the evolution of our privacy‑first approach to digital marketing, including server‑side tracking, clean rooms and cookieless identity strategies.
- Monitoring consent rates, opt‑in trends and data collection health, providing actionable insight to Marketing and Product teams on how privacy changes impact addressable audiences.
You’ll work closely with Data Engineering, Marketing and Legal teams to ensure that privacy and consent are embedded into the way Currys builds and activates its customer data. Your work will be the foundation that allows the business to personalise responsibly – making sure every audience, campaign and data activation respects customer choice.
Skills & Experience Required:
- Hands‑on experience with consent management platforms and a deep understanding of how consent signals are captured, stored and enforced across digital touchpoints.
- Strong knowledge of ad tech infrastructure and how tracking is implemented across web and app environments.
- A solid understanding of privacy regulations including GDPR, PECR and ePrivacy, and the ability to translate legal requirements into technical implementation.
- Experience designing consent flows that integrate with a modern data stack – ensuring preferences are carried through from collection to warehouse to activation.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to work across technical, marketing and legal teams and explain complex privacy concepts in plain language.
- Experience monitoring consent health metrics and translating trends into actionable recommendations for the business.
- Understanding of how audience activation and reverse ETL patterns need to account for consent status is highly desirable.
- Experience working within retail, e‑commerce or multi‑market environments is beneficial.
